CASTEL DELL'OVO
The Castel dell'Ovo (Castrum Ovi, in Latin, meaning Egg Castle), is Naples’ second oldest castle after Castel Capuano and one of the main landmarks of the bay of Naples. The building complex can be considered as a sort of small village in the very heart of the city.
MADONNA DELL'ARCO SANCTUARY
The Madonna dell’Arco Sanctuary is a religious building located in the area of Sant'Anastasia. On Easter Monday hundreds of pilgrims called fujenti or battenti travel to the sanctuary from all over region Campania. The origin of the sanctuary dates back to 1450, when blood came out of a holy image of the Virgin. The image soon became a popular object of veneration and source of major wonders. The building of the sanctuary started in 1593 and was completed in 1610.
